How Your Organization Can Help the Homeless Veterans of Central Texas
The homeless veterans of Central Texas include males, females, and families with children. They need the items that we all use and take for granted each day.
Your organization can help by conducting a “Needs Drive.” Post the list of all needs or just choose a few.
Challenge your members to clean out their closets and donate gently used items that they no longer need. We all have something, perhaps books, clothing, or housewares, that we no longer use.
Or pick one item – for example: do a toothpaste or deodorant drive and challenge the members of your organization to donate 100 tubes of toothpaste or 100 tubes of deodorant.
One Night of Hope has a registry at www.target.com - challenge your organization to fill up the wish list.
Whichever you choose, you and your organization will be helping the veterans who have served our country and who now need our support. All donors who include their name, number, address, donation, and value of donated items will receive a letter of acknowledgement from the Central Texas Veterans Health Care Service. (You can include this with your donation or email to onenight@austin.rr.com.)
After your organization collects the items, either bring them to the One Night of Hope Concert at Shoreline Church-North Campus on February 19 or contact onenight@austin.rr.com to make other arrangements. The doors at Shoreline will open at 6:15. You’ll enjoy a free performance by the McCallum High School Knights of Steel while you drop off donations and meet members of the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Thank you for your support of our veterans.
